Calibration laboratory SCS

A calibration laboratory compares measuring instruments against reference instruments and standards to identify and document deviations and calculate measurement uncertainty. It ensures that measuring equipment delivers accurate values and that metrological traceability is guaranteed. Accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025 ensures competence, reliable results and international comparability – creating trust, quality and safety.

A calibration laboratory is a technically qualified and impartial body that calibrates measuring instruments and measurement systems. The basis for this is the international standard ISO/IEC 17025, which ensures that calibrations are carried out competently, traceably and reliably.

Accreditation serves as proof of a calibration laboratory's technical competence and confirms that it is capable of delivering correct and accurate calibration results. To this end, the laboratory meets the standard's requirements in areas such as qualified personnel, suitable and correctly traceable equipment, validated calibration methods, controlled environmental conditions, and clear procedures for records and reporting. Through competent calibrations, the laboratory makes a central contribution to ensuring metrological traceability and correct measurement results, so that products, materials and samples meet defined technical, legal or contractual requirements.

Accreditation to this standard builds confidence, reduces risk and – through international mutual recognition agreements – facilitates the worldwide acceptance and comparability of calibration results. It forms the foundation for quality, safety and fair trade.
