Certification body for persons SCESe

Certification bodies for persons independently assess whether an individual has the necessary skills for specific activities. Accreditation to ISO/IEC 17024 guarantees a professional, impartial and transparent certification process. The result is qualification assessments that are reliable, internationally comparable and trusted.

A certification body for persons is an independent and expert conformity assessment body (CAB) that evaluates whether an individual has the required skills for specific activities or roles. Assessments are based on the international standard ISO/IEC 17024, which the CAB uses to define its management system and processes for this particular type of conformity assessment.

The certification body works with clearly defined certification programmes that set out the necessary knowledge, skills and – where required – professional experience. As part of the certification process, it assesses compliance with these requirements through objective assessments, particularly written, oral or practical tests. Based on the results, the certification body makes an impartial decision on whether to grant, maintain, monitor or renew the individual’s certification and issues the corresponding certificate.

The aim of certification of persons is to build trust in a certified person’s professional competence – among employers, customers, public authorities and other interested parties. Key requirements of the standard include impartiality, fairness, transparency, professional competence and regulated procedures for handling complaints and appeals. These requirements help to ensure that qualifications are comparable within Switzerland and internationally.
