Reference material producers SRMS
A reference material producer produces stable, homogeneous materials for calibrations and quality controls. Accreditation to ISO 17034 ensures traceability, reliable properties and international recognition – underpinning accurate measurements and trustworthy assessments.

A reference material producer (RMP) produces materials with clearly defined properties that are stable and homogeneous, and that are required by laboratories for calibrations, quality controls and method validations. Reference materials make measurements comparable and metrologically traceable.
ISO 17034 defines the requirements for competent reference material producers. A producer must demonstrate that it implements appropriate production plans, ensures the homogeneity and stability of its materials and clearly characterises their properties. It also provides traceable values with documented measurement uncertainty and supplies detailed certificates or information sheets containing all relevant information about each reference material.
Accreditation to ISO 17034 gives users confidence that the materials produced are reliable, metrologically traceable and internationally recognised. Reference materials of the highest quality are essential for accurate measurements and trustworthy conformity assessments.
