Import Platform
The import platform provides a centralised reference point for technical requirements and facilitates the placing on the market of products imported into Switzerland.

Import Platform - General Information
The import platform has been setup to help identify the applicable technical regulations for a product to be placed on the Swiss market.

Facilitated access to the Swiss market
The following five agreements and the “Cassis de Dijon principle” facilitate the placing of certain products on the Swiss market.

Portal of Swiss technical regulations
This page gives an overview of the Swiss regulations that must be observed when placing products on the Swiss market.

Foodstuffs, animal products, animals, plants and means of production
Import requirements vary by product. Multiple authorities may apply. Production inputs must comply. EU imports often benefit from easier conditions. Both safety and customs rules must be respected.

Industrial products
Industrial products may be subject to various technical regulations. For example, a boat equipped with a radar may have to conform to regulations for “Modes of transportation/boats” as well as “electrical and telecommunication appliances”.

Objects for daily use and other products with sectoral regulations
The import of everyday and specialized products such as cosmetics, children’s items, weapons, personal protective equipment, explosives, fireworks, as well as precious metals and watches is subject to strict requirements in Switzerland.
