The social dimension of sustainable development

SECO is committed to the social dimension of sustainable development. Tasked with promoting international labour standards, SECO's DAIN department (International Labour Affairs) helps to integrate the social dimension into sustainable development. In this capacity, it contributes to Switzerland’s external economic policy and promotes the incorporation of the ILO’s fundamental conventions into national legislation.

DAIN operates on two complementary levels. On the one hand, it monitors the inclusion of international labour standards in free trade agreements. On the other hand, it ensures compliance with social criteria, both in the public procurement and in the national policy to promote sustainable biofuels.
