Jérôme Cosandey

Jérôme Cosandey landscape format

Jérôme Cosandey (b. 1970) has been head of the Labour Directorate since 15 May 2025. Since 1 May 2026, he has also served as Deputy Director of SECO. He previously spent more than 13 years working at the think tank Avenir Suisse, first as Head of Research for Social Policy and then also as director of its activities in Western Switzerland from 2018. Between 2005 and 2009, he held a managerial role in Wealth Management at UBS. He began his career as a strategy consultant at The Boston Consulting Group, working in Zurich and Mumbai for six years. Jérôme Cosandey studied mechanical engineering at ETH Zurich and holds a Master’s degree in international economic history from the University of Geneva. Jérôme Cosandey has been appointed Deputy Director of SECO, effective May 1, 2026.

Ivo Germann

Ivo Germann landscape format

Ambassador Ivo Germann (*1972), lic. oec. publ., has been head of the Foreign Economic Affairs Directorate since 1 February 2023. Previously, he headed the Macroeconomic Support Section in the Economic Cooperation and Development Division. From 2019 to 2022, he was head of Economic, Trade and Financial Affairs at the Swiss Embassy in Washington, D.C. Ivo Germann joined SECO's Macroeconomic Support Section in August 2000 and was promoted to Deputy Head of Section in 2004. From 2007 to 2010, he was seconded to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in London serving as principal economist. On returning to SECO in 2010, he took over as head of Private Sector Development and was promoted to head of Operations South/East in January 2013.

Martin Saladin

Martin Saladin landscape format

Martin Saladin (*1967) has been head of the Promotion Activities Directorate at SECO since 1 September 2024. Prior to that, he was operational head and deputy head of SECO’s Economic Cooperation and Development division for five years. He has been involved in international economic development cooperation for more than 25 years. From 2004 to 2011 he headed SECO's cooperation programmes in Tanzania and Ghana. Before that, he worked for KPMG Switzerland and Switzerland Global Enterprise, among others. Martin Saladin holds degrees in international relations from the University of St Gallen and law from King's College London.

Ronald Indergand

Ronald Indergand landscape format

Ronald Indergand (born 1983) has been head of the Economic Policy Directorate since 1 March 2026. From June 2022 to February 2026, he headed the Growth and Competition Policy Division within the Directorate. Prior to this, from August 2016, he headed SECO’s Economic Affairs Division. He completed his doctorate in Economics at the University of Bern in the same year. He spent time conducting research for his thesis at the University of Pennsylvania, the University of California, Berkeley, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. His research findings were published in academic journals. From November 2009 to autumn 2015, Ronald Indergand worked in economic forecasting in the Economic Policy Directorate. He obtained a Master's degree in economics from the University of Bern in 2009.

Thomas Marthaler

Thomas Marthaler landscape format

Thomas Marthaler (*1982), MSc in Economics, has headed the Resources SECO directorate since 1 January 2024. From August 2019 he headed the Finance, Planning, Controlling and Statistics section at the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM). Thomas Marthaler joined the Federal Finance Administration FFA on 1 November 2008, where he was an economist until July 2019 and later deputy head of section in the Expenditure Policy division.
