Topics
SECO is the federal government's centre of expertise for core economic policy issues. We work to ensure sustainable economic growth, high employment and fair working conditions by creating the necessary framework conditions in regulatory, economic and foreign policy.

Economy
A well-functioning economy requires an economic policy based on reliable analyses. The Economic Policy Directorate prepares scientifically sound forecasts and analyses to support the federal government in its economic policy decisions.

Foreign trade
Switzerland is committed to an open economy and promotes free and fair global trade. It is responsible for international economic relations, WTO and EFTA negotiations, free trade agreements, multilateral organisations, development cooperation and export controls.

Labour
SECO ensures clear rules in labor market policy. These include, among other things, employee protection, unemployment insurance, job placement, and guaranteeing the free movement of persons. Promotion Activities
Swiss companies face global competition on a daily basis. The Swiss Business Promotion Agency supports them in this endeavour – for the benefit of the whole economy. The Swiss Accreditation Service (SAS) assesses and accredits conformity assessment bodies. Not all of our content is available in English. Unfair Business Practices
SECO exercises the federal government's right to take legal action against unfair business practices and monitors the cantonal enforcement of the Price Indication Ordinance.
