EFTA - Georgia

The free trade agreement (FTA) between the EFTA-states and Georgia was negotiated in three rounds between September 2015 and February 2016. The agreement was signed at the EFTA-ministerial meeting of June 27th in Bern. The agreement has been put in force on 1 May 2018.

Some horizontal provisions in the Chapter on trade in services were improved in comparison to the GATS. This chapter does not contain obligations on standstill and ratchet. In addition to the Chapter, sector-specific annexes provide rules going beyond the level of GATS.
