Negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement between the EFTA-States and the Philippines were launched on 24 March 2015 and they were concluded on 6 February 2016. The competent Ministers have signed the Agreement on 28 April 2016. The Agreement has not yet been ratified by all Parties and is not yet in force.

The Chapter on Trade in Services is completed by specific rules by means of  the following annexes: financial services, telecommunications services, maritime services and energy related services as well as the movement of natural persons supplying services. Market access commitments are taken on the basis of a positive list. This chapter does not contain obligations on standstill and ratchet.
