Stefan Flückiger

Ambassador Stefan Flückiger (*1958), since 1 July 2018, head of the Foreign Economic Specialised Services Division in the Foreign Economic Affairs Directorate and Federal Council Delegate for Trade Agreements. Previously head of the Sectoral Foreign Policy Division at the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs FDFA. From 2006 to 2014, he was a member of the Swiss Delegation to the OECD, initially as deputy head and from 2010 as ambassador and head of mission. From 2002 to 2006 he was responsible for strategy and planning at Avenir Suisse. Between 1997 and 2002, he headed the economic affairs section at the Swiss Embassy in Bonn and Berlin. Between 1994 and 1997, he was country officer for Haiti at the World Bank in Washington and Port-au-Prince. He joined the FDFA in 1989, was posted to Zimbabwe and worked between 1991 and 1994 as a member of the Development Service at the former Federal Office for Foreign Economic Affairs FOFEA. Stefan Flückiger holds a lic. phil. I degree from the University of Zurich and a Masters degree from Yale.
