Part-time employment in Switzerland 2017 - 59% of women and 18% of men work part-time

Neuchâtel, 17.01.2019 - In the 2nd quarter 2017, 36.7% of employed persons worked part-time, representing an increase of +8.4 percentage points compared with twenty years earlier. Part-time employment is very common among mothers with small children and persons employed in the service sector. In Europe, Switzerland is in second place behind the Netherlands for part-time employment. These are some of the main results from the publication “Part-time employment in Switzerland 2017” (only available in French and German) that is based on the Swiss Labour Force Survey (SLFS).
