SECO comprises four directorates and a Resources division. The Board Committee handles strategic management, while the full Board of Directors serves as a key forum for strategic discussion and planning.

Mission and Organisational Structure
As the centre of expertise for core issues relating to economic policy, SECO ensures sustainable economic growth, high employment and fair working conditions by providing a stable environment for regulatory, economic and foreign trade policy.

State Secretary Helene Budliger Artieda (*1965) has been director of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) since 1 August 2022.

SECO’s Executive Management
The SECO Board consists of the members of the Board Committee, the heads of the service areas, the head of the Permanent Mission in Geneva and the Directorate Staff.

Economic Policy Directorate
A well-functioning economy requires an economic policy based on reliable analyses. The Economic Policy Directorate prepares scientifically sound forecasts and analyses to support the federal government in its economic policy decisions.

Foreign Economic Affairs Directorate
The Swiss economy has a global focus. The Foreign Economic Affairs Directorate opens up foreign markets for Swiss companies, provides legal certainty for our exporters and is committed to sustainable economic development.

Labour Directorate
The Labour Directorate works to ensure clear rules in labour market policy, which includes employee protection, unemployment insurance, employment services and the free movement of persons.

Promotion Activities Directorate
Swiss companies must respond to global competition on a daily basis. The Promotion Activities Directorate provides support to companies, benefiting the economy as a whole. The Swiss Accreditation Service SAS examines and accredits conformity assessment bodies.

Resources SECO
The Resources SECO Directorate ensures the efficient operation of SECO’s business.
