Almost 10 000 persons and 900 commodity traders are at the centre of raw material trade in Switzerland

Neuchâtel, 08.03.2021 - In 2018, there were around 900 commodity traders in raw materials in Switzerland, employing some 9800 persons. These traders were assisted by related activities such as certification, transport and financing. A survey has provided a first, partial estimate of the number of jobs involved in these related activities, underlining in particular the importance of financing activities. These are the first official figures for the trade in raw materials sector from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) and the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
