According to the Swiss chemicals regulation SECO is the assessment authority responsible for the evaluation of chemicals at work. The goal of the assessment is to ensure a high standard of health protection for workers using chemicals at work. In joint cooperation with other federal offices, SECO evaluates dossiers for products that were submitted for the authorization (biocidal and plant protection products) and notification process (new chemicals). We assess whether occupational exposure to these chemicals can lead to critical health effects of workers and recommend the necessary protection measures to prevent such effects. Further, we engage in the coordination of national market control campaigns.
