Asia

Asia is the world’s largest continent in terms of both area and population. A highly heterogeneous area economically, politically, and culturally, it currently accounts for around one-third of global GDP. Asia’s economic importance will continue to increase, mainly due to productivity gains and, in parts of the continent, population growth. It is likely that the continent will contribute more than half of global economic output by the middle of the century. This will also create opportunities for Swiss businesses to deepen their already well-established trade and investment relations with Asia. Today, Asia is Switzerland's second most important trade partner after Europe, accounting for more than a fifth of trade in goods, and the third most important destination of Swiss Foreign Direct Investment.
