International networks

ICPEN (International Consumer Protection and Enforcement Network) is an international network to combat cross-border unfair commercial practices. Consumer protection authorities from over 60 countries worldwide are member of ICPEN. Switzerland is represented by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).

ICPEN provides a platform for the regular exchange of information between national consumer protection authorities. This ensures and promotes international cooperation between the members. The global reach and the cooperation among the authorities aim to strengthen the influence of the individual members and facilitate the enforcement of consumer protection across international borders.

A conference of the members of ICPEN usually takes place twice a year.

Econsumer.gov collects complaints in the field of e-commerce to meet the challenges of internet fraud. Consumer protection authorities from over 30 countries worldwide participate in Econsumer.gov.

Econsumer.gov operates a public website where consumers can lodge cross-border complaints. Besides, Econsumer.gov has a secure website that allows consumer protection authorities to access complaints and other confidential information.
